Year 5’s Assembly

Year 5 during their assembly

On Friday 31st January the children from Year 5 led our merit assembly where they shared lots of information about St John Bosco, who celebrates his Feast Day today.

The children told us lots about the dreams St John Bosco had and the impact he had on the poor and children during his lifetime.

Well done Year 5 you did a fantastic job!

Year 6 learning about St John Bosco

On Friday 31st January we celebrated the Feast Day of St John Bosco who is the Patron Saint of our Academy.

We joined together with children from St Chad’s Catholic Primary School and Bishop Milner Catholic College at 12pm to learn even more about why St John Bosco is such a good example to us and ask him to pray for all of us throughout the Academy.

FairAware School Renewal

Our FairAware status!

On Tuesday 28th January we successfully renewed our FairAware status!

Receiving the FairAward Status shows that we are aware of the Fairtrade organisation and the work they do to help people all over the world!

In addition to assemblies about Fairtrade and learning in lessons we also run a daily Fairtrade tuck shop which helps us to support and understand the work of the Fairtrade organisation.

Year 3’s lovely altar display

On Tuesday 28th January the children from Year 3 led our whole school Mass which was celebrated by Fr Louis.

The children did a lovely job of sharing prayers, readings and acting out the Gospel to help us feel close to Jesus.

One Year 4 child commented, “I felt that Jesus was close to me all the time.”

Well done Year 3.

Mission Team Meeting

Our Mission Team Meeting

On Wednesday 22nd January the children from our Mission Team met together to evaluate the Collective Worship and Catholic Life of our school.

The meeting started with a prayer and then the children shared their ideas and also shared how very happy with both the Collective Worship and Catholic Life of our school.

Our School Council Meeting

On Wednesday 22nd January the children from the School Council held a meeting to discuss suggestions about how to make our school even better.

The children worked together to evaluate what they thought was already good about our school and ways in which we could work together to make it even better!

The children were so mature and sensible and shared some great ideas!

Pope Francis Prayer Bags

Year 1’s Prayer Bags

On Wednesday 22nd January the children from Year 1 were given special Pope Francis themed prayer bags to take home as a gift to keep from the school.

The children were very excited about taking their prayer bags home and sharing them with their families.

We REALLY look forward to hearing how the children and their families have used their prayer bags at home.

Year 4’s lovely altar display

On Tuesday 21st January the children from Year 4 led our whole school Mass celebrated by Father Peter.

Year 4 shared some lovely bidding prayers which they had written along with acting out the Gospel to help us understand it even more.

One Year 5 child commented, “I felt close to Jesus when I was listening to the bidding prayers, especially when we asked Jesus to help us to be kind and compassionate like him.”

Well done Year 4 for helping to make Mass so special.

Year 2’s assembly

On Friday 17th January the children from Year 2 shared a special assembly all about the parable of The Good Samaritan.

The children acted out the story and reminded us of the compassion and love the Samaritan showed towards the Jewish man who had been injured and how this is an example for us to follow in our daily lives.

One Year 5 child said, “The assembly reminds me to love everyone like family and to be kind.”

Well done to everyone in Year 2, you did a brilliant assembly!

Year 6 lead a Prayer Partner Gathering

Year 6’s gathering

On Thursday 16th January the children from Year 6 hosted a special gathering for their prayer partners in Year 3.

Year 6 thought very carefully about the gathering to make it very reflective and a time of prayer and peace.  The children chose readings, created a lovely display and wrote beautiful prayers to share.
