Mini Vinnies Meet!

Our new Mini Vinnies

On Tuesday 29th January the new Mini Vinnies for the Spring Term met up to think of fund raising events which they could carry out during Lent.

The children had lots of good ideas and we look forward to hearing about all their fund raising ideas very soon!

Year 3’s altar display

On Tuesday 29th January it was the turn of the children from Year 3 to lead our whole school Mass with Fr Louis.

The children did a lovely job of acting out the Gospel to help us understand, reading clearly and sharing their bidding prayers.

One Year 4 child commented, “We are called to look after each other as we are all part of God’s family.”

Our Mass Booklet

On Sunday 27th January the staff and children from St Joseph’s attended a special School Mass in Our Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury Church Dudley.

The children from school sang in the choir, played in the band, read and helped to bring the offertory.  It was a lovely Mass and we really appreciated that so many families were able to join us.

Year 6’s special assembly

On Friday 25th January Year 6 lead out whole school assembly which was all about the Conversion of St Paul.

The children did a fantastic job of linking the story to modern day life – including links to the use of social media to help us really understand the story!

Thank you Year 6 for such a thoughtful assembly!

We are a FairAware School

Our award!

On Thursday 24th January we received a FairAware Award form the Fairtrade Association.

The award is in recognition of our work learning about Fairtrade – which includes our assemblies, work in RE and running our very own Fairtrade Tuck Shop!

We would like to congratulate our cleaning team here at St Joseph’s for passing their cleaning inspection with flying colours and gaining 100%.

Our cleaning staff work very hard to keep our school lovely and clean and we are very grateful and proud that all of their hard work has been recognised!

Year 4 lead Mass

Year 4’s altar display

On Tuesday 22nd January the children from Year 4 prepared and led our whole school Mass which was celebrated by Father Louis.

The children read, acted, brought up the offertory along with sharing their own bidding prayers to make Mass very special.

One Year 5 child commented, “Jesus calls me to be kinder and put other people before myself.”

Well done Year 4.

Reception class during their special assembly

On Friday 18th January the children from Reception class shared all of their learning about Martin Luther King during their special assembly.

Reception class have been learning about Martin Luther King in celebration of Martin Luther King day which is celebrated on 21st January every year.

Reception class shared information about Martin Luther King’s life, why he was such a special and inspirational person and why he is an example of the way Jesus wants us to treat each other – with kindness, respect and equality – some of our school values here at St Joseph’s!

Year 1’s Prayer Bags

One of the prayer bags

On Tuesday 15th January the children from Year 1 received the special gift of a prayer bag from the school to take home and enjoy.

Year 1’s prayer bags were themed on Pope Francis and each prayer bag contained: a green cloth (for ordinary time), a candle and a photo prayer card for Pope Francis.

We hope the children use the prayer bags to pray at home with their families.

Year 5’s altar display

On Tuesday 15th January the children from Year 5 lead our whole school Mass with Fr Louis in school.

The children wrote some lovely bidding prayers asking God to always give us the strength to do the right thing and be eloquent and truthful – which are the values we are focusing on this half term.

The children also read and acted beautifully to help us understand the Gospel.

Well done Year 5.
