6M in their assembly

On Friday 29th June the children from 6M shared their learning all about St Peter and St Paul in their special assembly.

The children did a marvellous job of sharing information about the two Saints and explained that like us, they made mistakes but were always forgiven by Jesus.

The children also linked the virtues of attentive and discerning, which we are learning about this half term, to the lives of the two saints and how we can be more like them in our own lives.

Well done 6M!

Our ambassadors after their presentation!

On 28th June St. Joseph’s The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors attended the second Anti-Bullying workshop, in Halesowen.

In the morning they took part in activities with other ambassadors from across Dudley and Wolverhampton.

The children also spent time thinking of ways to strengthen the anti-bullying message within schools.

All children had fun and joined in with enthusiasm. Sharing ideas with others and with confidence, the Ambassadors presented what St. Joseph’s Primary School, as a whole, had done in this year’s Ant-Bullying weeks.

The Diana Award Team were extremely impressed with the presentation and work created as a whole school.

Well done children!

Year 3’s altar display

On Tuesday 26th June it was the turn of the children from Year 3 to lead our whole school Mass.

The children did a smashing job of writing and reading the bidding prayers, creating a prayer display, reading, acting and bringing the Offertory.

The children linked the bidding prayers to the virtues of Attentive and Discerning which are a focus this half term.

“We pray that we can be discerning and make the right choices, even when making the right choice is hard.”

A prayer focus for the three saints

On Friday 22nd June during our merit assembly we learned all about St John Fisher and St Thomas Moore who celebrate their Feast Days today and St John the Baptist who celebrates his Feats Day on Sunday 24th June.

The children knew lots about all three Saints and learned even more about St John the Baptist from watching a short video.

We thought about how the Saints set us an example of how to live and how they were attentive and discerning.

One child commented, “They were attentive because they listened to the Word of God.”

Another child said, “They were discerning because they made the right choice – even though it meant they got killed!”

Year 4 during their talk

On Thursday 21st June the children from Year 4 were visited by some Fire Fighters who came into school to talk to the children about keeping safe at home.

The Fire Fighters also spoke to the children about what they should do in the event of a fire and how they can help to look after themselves and other members of the family.

The children learned a lot and were very grateful to the Fire Fighters for giving up their time to come into school.
