Reception visit the Church

Children listening carefully to Father.

On Monday 16th July the children from Reception class went on a visit to our Church in Dudley – Our Blessed Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury.

The children walked to the church and then spent sometime looking around the church at the font, stained glass windows and artwork, the Stations of the Cross and listening to Father Emmanuel.

The children really enjoyed spending time with Father Emmanuel at the Church – thank you Father!

Nursery and Reception enjoying the band!

On Tuesday 17th July the children from Nursery and Reception invited a brass band into school.

The brass band was a very special brass band where the musicians told the story of the Three Billy Goat’s Gruff to music!

The children listened and joined in with the music and story and had a wonderful time.

The ladies with Father at the end of Mass

Following Mass on Tuesday 17th July the whole school took the opportunity to say goodbye and thank – you to the four ladies who will be leaving us this week.

The children all wrote lovely messages for cards and the ladies were presented with lovely flowers to say thanks for all of their hard work during their time working at St Joseph’s.

Cards for Father!

Following Mass on Tuesday 17th July the children from each class presented Father Emmanuel with a special card to celebrate his 70th birthday!

Father will celebrate his 70th birthday in August, but as we are on holiday we had an early celebration!

Year 6 lead their final school Mass

Year 6 receiving their certificates for Confirmation.

On Tuesday 17th July the children from Year 6 lead the final Mass of our school year in school.

The Mass was a joint Leavers and Confirmation Celebration Mass and the children received their certificates in celebration of receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation last week in Church.

The children gave thanks to God for the wonderful memories they will take with them from St Joseph’s and for the gift of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation,

Sports Day Winners

Our house captains with their sporting trophies!

On Friday 13th July during our merit assembly the Sports Day winners were revealed!

There were so many house points won by all the children and the totals were all very close which means that we are very proud of all of the children from Nursery through to Year 6.

There can only be one winner and this year it was Respect who gained the highest number of house points.  Each team captain received a cup dressed in their colours which will be displayed in the school reception area!

Well done everyone!

Year 4 visit Cadbury World

Year 4 at Cadbury World

On Friday 13th July the children from Year 4 visited Cadbury Wold as part of their History topic learning about the Mayan civilisation.

The children had a lovely day learning about the Mayans and were very surprised about some of the facts about the ancient civilisation – they also enjoyed sampling some of the chocolate too!

KS1 Recorder Concert

The children during their concert.

On Tuesday 10th July the children from Year 1 and 2 got the chance to demonstrate all of the recorder skills they have been learning this year during their music lessons.

Each week a teacher from Dudley Performing Arts comes into school to teach the children how to play the recorder and the concert was a perfect opportunity to share all of these new skills with parents!

Year 5 and 1 hold their gathering in Church

Year 5 and 1 in church together!

On Thursday 12th July the children from Year 5 and 1 walked to the church together to hold their Prayer Partner Gathering.

The school Mission Team thought it would be a lovely idea to go on trips with their prayer partners so the children thought it would be nice to hold their gathering in Church so they could walk together, pray together and take extra time to look around the church together too.

The children had a wonderful time, one child commented, “Going to Church made our gathering extra special and I really enjoy praying with my prayer partner.”

EYFS Sports Day

EYFS enjoying Sports Day.

On Thursday 12th July it was the turn of the children from Nursery and Reception class to enjoy Sports Day.

The children took part in lots of exciting races and activities and were supported by a large number of parents who had come along to watch.  The house point scores will be added to those gained by the children from all the other classes for the grand total and wining house to be revealed in assembly!
