Year 6 ready to present their assembly!

On Thursday 4th October the children from Year 6 shared their class assembly with the rest of the school and their parents.

Year 6 did a wonderful job of teaching us a little bit more about Mary in one of her special months – October.

The children told us about Mary’s life, where she had appeared to others, when praying the rosary started, why Mary was special and they even created beautiful artwork to honour Our Lady too.

Well done Year 6 – we are really proud of you!

Year 5 Prayer Bags

One of the prayer bags displayed

On Thursday 4th October the children from Year 5 received a special Mary themed prayer bag to take home and use with their families.

The prayer bag is a gift from school for the children to keep and gives them the opportunity to create a prayer display in their own home.  Inside each prayer bag there is: a blue cloth, a battery candle, a set of rosary beads and a Regina Caeli prayer card.

One child commented, “I really enjoy creating a prayer display and praying together with my family.”

One of the coloured rosary beads

On Thursday 4th October the children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 were given special coloured rosary beads to use in school when praying the rosary.

The children pray the Rosary each day during October and now in addition to the teacher’s large rosary beads the children have lovely multi-coloured rosary beads to use as they pray together too.

Praying the Rosary during October

Our display to honour Mary

During the month of October we are honouring Our Lady by praying the Rosary daily in our classrooms and coming together for special assemblies to pray the Rosary together as a whole school.

On Thursday 4th October we held the first of our whole school assemblies where we prayed the rosary together as a school.  We looked at the first of the Light Mysteries together, prayed the Apostle’s Creed (a traditional prayer from Year 5) and sang to honour Mary.

One child commented, “Every time we pray the Rosary we are giving Mary a spiritual rose.”

Working together during the lesson

On Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th October the children from Reception class invited their parents into school to take part in a Maths lesson.

Lots of parents were able to come in and join the lesson and find out all about what their children are learning about in Maths this week.

The children really enjoyed having their parents in school and taking part in their Maths lesson with them!

Goodbye Father Emmanuel

Tuesday, 2 October 2018

Thank you Father Emmanuel!

On Tuesday 2nd October Father Emmanuel celebrated the final Mass in school before her retires to look after Father Bengt and they both move to their new house in Coventry.

All of the children made lovely cards for both Father Emmanuel and Father Bengt which contained lots of prayers and best wishes.

Following Mass Father Emmanuel went around the school to say goodbye to all the children before receiving a special thank-you cake.

We wish father Emmanuel and Father Bengt all the very best for the future and we promise to keep them in our prayers and in our hearts.

Year 3 lead our whole school Mass

The lovely display to celebrate the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels

On Tuesday 2nd October it was the turn of the children from Year 3 to lead our whole school Mass in school.

Today’s Mass was very special as it was the last Mass that Father Emmanuel will celebrate in our school.  Father Emmanuel has been our very much loved School Chaplain and Parish Priest for the past 11 years.  Father is retiring to look after Father Bengt and although we are going to miss him, we understand his decision and we wish both him and Father Bengt a happy time as they move to Coventry.

Year 3 read beautifully, acted and brought up the offertory to help make Mass very special – well done children!

St Vincent De Paul

Our display for the Memorial of St Vincent De Paul

On Thursday 27th September we held a special assembly to celebrate the Memorial of St Vincent De Paul.

The children listened carefully to information about the life of St Vincent De Paul and what a good person he was and how he followed in Jesus’ footsteps.

The children then discussed what they do to help others like St Vincent De Paul did – donating tins of food, the work of our very own Mini Vinnies and how we support CAFOD Fast Days.

Thank-you for your generosity

Our display of all of the tins donated

On Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th September the families of our school donated lots and lots of tins of food which we will send to the Good Shepherd Appeal in Wolverhampton who work with and help the homeless.

We are so grateful for the generosity that our families have shown in thinking about and helping others in our community who are in need.

We created a lovely display of all the tins for our Harvest Mass in school and the Good Shepherd Appeal helpers will be collecting the tins this week and putting them to very good use.

Thank-you everyone!
