Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)

We continue to strive to find new and creative ways to promote positive mental health. As part of our Covid-19 response we ensured that all our pupils were welcomed back to school with their wellbeing as our priority.

We Are All Equal

Through our school values or Kindness, Truth, Respect, Equality and Forgiveness we acknowledge on a daily basis that although we are all different and unique we should always follow our school values in our treatment of others.

Through our RHSE we look at how we are all unique and celebrate our differences.

We hold multiple focus weeks to look more closely at other cultures and faiths to help children understand further that people can be different in many ways but we are all equal.

Counselling

Counselling and play therapy can be used in many ways as a successful intervention. We have a Counsellor who visits the school once a week to work with children who need emotional and/or behaviour support.

Rainbow Counsellors

We have a number of staff members training the Bereavement Counselling. Staff have been training and have age appropriate resources to help support children and their families who have suffered a bereavement.

Sycamore Centre

We work very closely with staff from the Sycamore Centre who offer advice and support to staff in order to help support children with their behaviour.

We hold ‘Behaviour Clinics’ regularly where any member of staff can arrange to meet with staff form the Sycamore Centre to get advice and support for both in school and support for parents too.
