Kindness Crew on duty!

Members of the Kindness Crew in action!

Some of the children from year 5 and 6 and been recruited to be members of the Kindness Crew.

During lunchtimes and playtimes the Kindness Crew report for duty and help to make sure that the playgrounds are happy places for everyone.

The Kindness Crew are always on hand to help other children who maybe upset or need someone to talk to.

Well done and keep up the good work!

Year 4 acting out the Parable of the Sower

On Friday 29th September it was the turn of Year 4 to lead our Friday assembly.

The children told and acted out the Parable of the Sower and reminded us of how we need to be like the good seed and grow with Jesus in our hearts and listen to his calling.

The children did a great job – well done Year 4!

A special visitor to Year 6M

The children opening their ration boxes!

On Friday 22nd September Year 6M were visited by an employee of the British Army who works in the signal section, specialising in communications.

The children were fascinated to hear all about the different roles and responsibilities their visitor had and all the countries that he had visited.

At the end of the session the children were given a ration box – containing what a solider has to live on for 24 hours when on a mission.

The children had a great time and were very grateful to their special visitor for taking time out of his schedule to visit them!

Year 3’s parent workshop

On Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th September Year 3 invited their parents to join them in a Maths lesson.

The children worked with their parents to identify properties of and make a variety of 3D shapes!

Both the parents and the children really enjoyed the lesson!

A special Mass for Father Emmanuel

Sacred Heart in Tipton, where Father displayed all the cards the children made in celebration of his 40th anniversary!

Wednesday 27th September was the 40th anniversary of Father’s Ordination as a Priest.

There was a celebratory Mass held in Sacred Heart Church in Tipton on Wednesday evening where the teachers and staff from St Joseph’s, along with a number of pupils past and present, went to join in Father’s special celebration.

Children presenting their cards for Father Emmanuel

At the end of a special celebratory Mass on Tuesday 26th September where we congratulated father on the 40th anniversary of his ordination, the children presented special cards they had made.

Along with the┬ámany┬ácards and a special gift from school, the children also presented Father with a spiritual bouquet – each class had prayed 40 prayers for him to represent the 40 years he has dedicated to following God.

Year 5 lead a VERY special Mass

The altar display dedicated to Father Emmanuel

On Tuesday 26th September Year 5 led a special Mass in celebration of Father Emmanuel’s 40 years in the priesthood.

The Mass was very special with beautiful songs and special display in front of the altar dedicated to Father.

Following Mass Father also joined some of the children from Year 5 in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

The children acting out the Parable of Talents

On Friday 22nd September Year 6C led our Friday assembly which was all about talents.

The children reminded us that we all have God given talents and that we should use them to do good in the world.

British Red Cross work with Year 6

Year 6 learning first aid

On Thursday 21st September the children from Year 6 welcomed a visitor from the British Red Cross.

The children spent the morning together learning about First Aid and how they can help people who are injured along with taking part in a Refugee Awareness workshop.

The children had a very enjoyable morning and found out lots of useful and interesting information!

The altar display Year 3 created.

On Tuesday 19th September it was the turn of Year 3 to prepare and lead our whole school Mass.

The children acted, read the readings and prayers and brought the offertory up perfectly!

The children reminded us of the values of being eloquent and truthful during this half term.

Well done Year 3!
