Our choir perform!

Our choir performing!

On Friday 20th July in the final assembly of the year we enjoyed dance performances from Reception and Year 5 along with a lovely performance from our choir and another look at the special PowerPoint Year 6 prepared for their Graduation.

It was a lovely way to end the school year together and we wish all of the children from Year 6 all the best for the future!

One of our Mission award winners!

During our merit assembly on Friday 20th July the Mission Team awarded the mission award medals for this half term.

The Mission Team were over whelmed with entries and took the job of looking though the applications very seriously and took great pride in handing out the medals during the assembly!

Reception visit the Church

Children listening carefully to Father.

On Monday 16th July the children from Reception class went on a visit to our Church in Dudley – Our Blessed Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury.

The children walked to the church and then spent sometime looking around the church at the font, stained glass windows and artwork, the Stations of the Cross and listening to Father Emmanuel.

The children really enjoyed spending time with Father Emmanuel at the Church – thank you Father!

Year 6 lead their final school Mass

Year 6 receiving their certificates for Confirmation.

On Tuesday 17th July the children from Year 6 lead the final Mass of our school year in school.

The Mass was a joint Leavers and Confirmation Celebration Mass and the children received their certificates in celebration of receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation last week in Church.

The children gave thanks to God for the wonderful memories they will take with them from St Joseph’s and for the gift of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation,

Year 5 and 1 hold their gathering in Church

Year 5 and 1 in church together!

On Thursday 12th July the children from Year 5 and 1 walked to the church together to hold their Prayer Partner Gathering.

The school Mission Team thought it would be a lovely idea to go on trips with their prayer partners so the children thought it would be nice to hold their gathering in Church so they could walk together, pray together and take extra time to look around the church together too.

The children had a wonderful time, one child commented, “Going to Church made our gathering extra special and I really enjoy praying with my prayer partner.”

Confirmation

All of the children who were Confirmed.

On Wednesday 11th July children from Year 6 along with a number of children from the Parish of Sacred Heart in Tipton and Our Blessed Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury were Confirmed by Bishop David McGough in church.

It was such a lovely occasion and the children were supported by other children from school who came to sing in the choir and play musical instruments.

One child commented, “Now that I have been Confirmed I feel really happy in a way that I can’t explain.”

Well done children!

Reconciliation for Confirmation

The Reconciliation Service display.

On Tuesday 10th July following our whole school Mass the children who are being Confirmed in Church tomorrow by the Bishop took part in a special Reconciliation service with Father Emmanuel.

During the service the children listened to readings, listened to music and sang before taking time to think about what they were sorry for.  The children then received the Sacrament of Reconciliation form Father and completed their penance in the schools prayer area.

One child commented, “I now feel I am completely ready to receive Confirmation tomorrow, I am ready to take the next step on my faith journey.”

 

Year 5 lead Mass

Year 5’s altar display.

On Tuesday 10th July it was the turn of Year 5 to lead our whole school Mass.

The children prepared the readings, acting, a lovely display and wrote some lovely thoughtful bidding prayers to make Mass a lovely celebration in school.

One of the children said, “I like Mass when Father talks to us – he is funny and he makes the Gospel easy to understand.”

6M Celebrate Brilliant in Multicultural Britain Week

Well done 6M!

On Friday 6th July the children from 6M celebrated all of their work this week in school, learning about different faiths and British Values by dancing to one of the most famous World Cup songs which supports England – Three Lions!

The children really got us in the mood to support England whilst reminding us of the values which we think are really important!

The children did a brilliant job and we are very proud of them!
