Year 5’s altar display

On Tuesday 23rd October the children from Year 5 lead our whole school Mass in school with Father Louis.

The children read the readings, prayers and acted  perfectly to help us understand the Gospel and the message of always being ready for Jesus.

One Year 3 child commented, “I am going to try to be kind today and be ready just in case Jesus walks through the front door of our school.”

Two of our poppy sellers!

During the week beginning Monday 15th October the children have been selling a range of items along with poppies to support the 2018 Poppy Appeal.

Lots of children have brought rulers, pencils and poppies to support the appeal and we hope to raise lots of money for this very important charity.

Well done children!

The Mission Team at work!

On Thursday 18th October the children from the Mission Team met together to look through the Mission Award applications.

We have received a record number of applications from children from Years 1 -6 who feel they deserve to be awarded the Mission Award for their class as they can show that they: know our school values, have taken part in prayer services, have shown how they are kind to others both in school and in the wider community and can name some traditional prayers etc

The Mission Team took their job of looking through the applications very seriously and in some cases went to speak to the applicants to get further information!

Well done Mission Team!

Year 6’s lovely altar display

On Tuesday 16th October Father Louis our new school Chaplain and Parish Priest came into school to celebrate Mass for the first time.

Mass was lead by Year 6 who welcomed Father Louis both in the introduction and through the bidding prayers.

Year 6 did a wonderful job of making Father Louis first Mass very special and we look forward to working with Father Louis to make our school the very best it can be.

One child commented, “Father Louis showed how he followed his vocation even when it was difficult, I am going to try and be like him and follow my vocation too.”

Year 1 during their assembly

On Friday 12th October the children from Year 1 shared their R.E. learning all about creation with the rest of the school and lots of parents and friends.

The children did a fantastic job of explaining the story of how God created the world and how we need to play our part in looking after it.

Well done Year 1!

Our new sign!

On Tuesday 9th October our new Liturgical Year Calendar sign was installed at the front of the hall.

Our new sign helps us to recognise where we are within the liturgical year and the colour associated with it!

Whole School Retreat Day

Friday, 5 October 2018

Gathering together at the start of our retreat day!

On Friday 5th October we had a very special day in school as it was our whole school Retreat Day with Dan and Emily!

Our retreat day was such a special day, as it was a day away from the normal timetable to spend time together as a whole school, singing, praising God, praying and having some fun too!

The theme of the day was His Goodness Never Fails which focusses on Jesus being the good shepherd and us his sheep.

The children (and staff) had a really lovely day together – Thank you Dan and Emily!

Year 6 present their assembly

Year 6 ready to present their assembly!

On Thursday 4th October the children from Year 6 shared their class assembly with the rest of the school and their parents.

Year 6 did a wonderful job of teaching us a little bit more about Mary in one of her special months – October.

The children told us about Mary’s life, where she had appeared to others, when praying the rosary started, why Mary was special and they even created beautiful artwork to honour Our Lady too.

Well done Year 6 – we are really proud of you!

Year 5 Prayer Bags

Thursday, 4 October 2018

One of the prayer bags displayed

On Thursday 4th October the children from Year 5 received a special Mary themed prayer bag to take home and use with their families.

The prayer bag is a gift from school for the children to keep and gives them the opportunity to create a prayer display in their own home.  Inside each prayer bag there is: a blue cloth, a battery candle, a set of rosary beads and a Regina Caeli prayer card.

One child commented, “I really enjoy creating a prayer display and praying together with my family.”

Rosary Beads

One of the coloured rosary beads

On Thursday 4th October the children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 were given special coloured rosary beads to use in school when praying the rosary.

The children pray the Rosary each day during October and now in addition to the teacher’s large rosary beads the children have lovely multi-coloured rosary beads to use as they pray together too.
