Fairtrade Assembly

Friday, 15 September 2017

Year 5 during their assembly!

On Friday 15th September Year 5 presented their assembly all about Fairtrade.

The children linked Fairtrade to the teachings of Jesus – how we should share what we have.

Also, the children reminded us of the gospel values of being eloquent and truthful which we are learning about this half term.

Thank you Year 5!

The children worked in their two groups – Collective Worship Evaluators and Catholic Life Evaluators to evaluate the schools work during the last term!

The children recognised that there was a lot of good work at St Joseph’s and they came up with some good ideas to make it even better too!

Well done children for all of your hard work!

Our Great Get Together!

On Friday 14th July to mark the end of Brilliant to be in Britain week, we held our Great Get Together in memory of Jo Cox, the MP who sadly lost her life last year.

Our Great Get Together followed fantastic dance performances during the day from all of the children from Nursery to Year 6.

At our Great Get Together we had a bouncy castle, chocolate and bottle tombolas, teddy stall, face painting, raffle and fantastic DJ’s!  Lots of families were able to join us and share in a fantastic time in each other’s company!

Our Great Get Together launch assembly

On Monday 10th July in our Monday assembly we launched our special Brilliant in Britain Week which will conclude on Friday with a Great Get Together with all the children and their families from St Joseph’s gathering together to enjoy dance performances and enjoying the after school get together with stalls, bouncy castle and DJ!

The Great Get Together is a special event organised by  the family and friends of Jo Cox, the MP who was sadly killed last year.  During the assembly we learnt a little bit more about Jo Cox – her life, family and what she believed in.

Jo Cox believed that ‘we have more in common than that which divides us’ a theory we put to the test when we talked to the person next to us – we found that although we are different in skin colour, religion, gender etc we have a lot more in common e.g. the way we treat each other, our values, our likes and dislikes.

We are looking forward to our Great Get Together on Friday!
