B-Tales visit at the start of Anti-bullying Week

Monday, 11 November 2019

The B-Tales in action!

On Monday 11th November we were very lucky to be visited by the B-Tales who shared their play – Joe the Dreamer!

The play was based on the bible story of Joseph and his coat of many colours but with a modern twist which looked at jealousy, bullying and the effects this can have on people and the actions it leads them to take.

The children form Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 REALLY enjoyed the performance and asked the actors some very thoughtful questions at the end of the performance.

We really do love having the B-Tales in school and are already looking forward to their next visit in December!

Year 3 getting ready for their assembly

On Friday 18th October the children from Year 3 shared their initial learning about Black History Month with the rest of the school and their parents during our merit assembly.

The children shared the story of Rosa Parkes and how she wasn’t treated equally – Year 3 also reminded us that Jesus, through the Gospels, teaches us how to treat each other fairly no matter what our differences.

Our live link!

On Thursday 17th October we held a special live link up assembly with our partner school SP118 in Wroclaw Poland.  Mr Hinton, Miss Marsh and Miss Cresswell from St Joseph’s along with Mr May the Principal from Bishop Milner Catholic College are currently visiting our partner school and it was lovely to see them on the live link up too.

During the link up the children from SP118 shared work they had completed about St John Henry Newman and then the children from St Joseph’s shared the work they have completed all about Pope John Paul II.

It was a lovely event which all the children enjoyed and a great way to keep the link with SP118 so alive!

Year 5’s prayer bag

On Tuesday 15th October the children from Year 5 received a Mary themed prayer bag to take home which is a gift from the school.

The children were very happy to take their prayer bags home and especially liked the colourful rosary beads.

Year 5 are invited to take the time to pray at home, either by themselves or with their family and tell us about their experiences.
